Visual Development Project

My main goal was to establish the right mood within the very limited timeframe of the project. I went with a 2.5D style for this project so I could combine the cute, semi-realistic 2D character with a more grounded and realistic 3D environment. This way the main character deliberately looks “too cute ” for the zombie-infested world around her.

I used 3D models I found online to set the scene and made use of decals to set the mood. I also made my own decals for posters on the wall and floor, and created a custom 2.5D shader that lets the main character cast shadows on the 3D space.

I made the player character playable by writing a basic player controller. I also created scripts that let the character pick up the key from the zombie and lock the door. The music cases were animated to act as hiding spots for the player. All other effects, like the screen text changes, were added in post.

Spritesheet of the main character. I decided to alter a run animation i had made prior to use as the main character and wrote a simple character controller to make her playable.

Project Information

For this school project, the goal was to practise setting a scene in Unity. I came up with a slightly goofy game concept where an idol has to escape her concert venue in the middle of a sudden zombie apocalypse.
